Best eReader (Nook, Kindle, etc), Christmas 2010?

I’m getting an eReader for Christmas this year, and can’t decide which one to get. I’ve read and searched this online, but can’t seem to find really good answers/comparisons.

I had initially had my sights set on the Nook, but now that the new Kindle is out, I’m not sure which one I’d like. I’m also open to suggestions of other/unknown brands that make good eReaders.

I’d like:
- A large library of books available.
- 3G and WiFi capability (preferable)
- Light-weight/small.
- Reasonably priced.

I may consider the iPad, but that’s on the higher end of the budget, and it seems too big to carry around. What do you think?

Amazon just released a new Kindle and it is much better. I’ve given a detailed comparison between the Nook and the new Kindle, in another answer here (I’ve also mentioned where to get free books in the answer). Guess you’ll find interested:

And if you’re getting the Kindle, my advice for you is to place the order as soon as possible so to ensure it arrives to you early. The first batch has just sold out and the second batch now deliver on or before 17th Sept. When the second batch get out of stock, it may take another month for it to be back in stock, and you’ll have to wait much longer.

Hope it helps :)

Kindle Or Ipad

How does ‘Amazon Kindle’ for iPad work?

I want to know how the ‘Amazon Kindle’ App works on the iPad. Does it come with it’s own ‘Book store’ or do you have to buy the books via iTunes (iBooks)? I don’t have an iPad yet, I’m waiting on the Wifi/3G model. I was just curious to how this ‘Kindle App’ Vs. ‘iBooks’ plays out.

I don’t want to hear it from the people who dislike this iPad, if it doesn’t fit your life-style, then so be it. It definitely fits mine.

Neither do I want to hear the same irrational question, “Why would you buy a large ‘ipod touch‘?”
Well my question for you is “Why buy a small iPad”?

You have to buy books from Amazon Kindle store here, to be read on the Kindle app. iBooks should be read by the iBook app coming with iPad by default:

And here you can find everything about the Kindle for iPad:

I’ve given a detailed review about pros and cons for the iPad for reading, in a previous answer here. Guess you’ll be interested:

Ipad Nook

ipad nook
what are the differences between kindle 1 and kindle 2?

i’m thinking now that the kindle 2 is out and the nook and the Ipad, i can get a kindle 1 relatively cheap. BUT before i decide to go that route, i want to know the differences between the two kindles ONLY (not interested in nook or Ipad). from what i’ve gathered, they are not that different

These two articles outlines the differences between them:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2Freview%2FR2WA9L1QGI89XQ%3Fie%3DUTF8%26ref_%3Dcm%5Fcr%5Frdp%5Fperm&tag=elec-m-20&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=390957

I do suggest to go for the Kindle 2, it is slimmer and more handy, and there are a number of improvements as mentioned in the above articles.

I just checked their price from the pages below, there isn’t a too big difference indeed.
